    Brake Job cost?

    Hey ...

I was wondering ... what's a reasonable price for changing brake pads for all four wheels?

I was quoted $150 for the OEM pads (4 of them) and $100 bucks labour ... does that sound okay?

why is that a good idea? doesn't machining the rotars make them thinner? and shouldn't that only be done if they are warped as a way to try and fix them as a cheaper solution than getting new rotars???

No the price is simply ... taking out the old and putting in the new ones.

He asked if I want my rotors machined ... but the rotors are cross drilled and less than two years old. Plus I don't have the pulsation or vibration issue ... just used up brake pads.

    Does it sound reasonable?

woops NM i ment resurface not machine

resurfacing should be done everytime to restore the friction surface, and if any cracks or scoring on the rotors be removed, so you dont wear out your new pads prematurely, now unless the surfaces are almost 100% perfect then you don't have to, but its a good idea.

as for price, it sounds reasonable for labour.

for 150 bucks I would get an aftermarket pad.

Putting the pads on is easy.. 1/2 hour job most of the time..

i guess that price is ok. when i replaced my stock front pads they cost $60-70 from honda. It looks like ur paying a bit for labour, what do most mechanics charge per hour? $45-$50? in which case ur paying for 2 hours of labour which is more double what it will take a mechanic.

if u wanna save money do it urself, changing pads is pretty easy, i did it myself.

Lets do a brake pad install day!

I may want to change my front pads and rotors before putting my car up for sale.

See I wanted to do it myself ... but who is liable if an accident happens and it's due to faulty breaks?

you were the last one to touch it and insurance won't cover it
