Porsche Panamera

is all i have to 'express'

Stick to making 2dr sports cars instead of SUV's and 4dr saloons

Really? I don't really see a huge market for a 300-500 hp 5 door that is going to cost that much. The Cayenne did so well because the SUV market was blowing up at the time and there wasn't much competition in the high performance luxury SUV segment. There are already a fair amount of contenders in the high performance sedan segment and ones that look a lot better. I do like the front of the car but the back is pretty brutal. It will be interesting to see if it sells.

purity shmurity, its about making money and with the GT series line up and its flagship GT porsche has solidified its purity for a long time. Lamborghini made trucks and such, did they loose purity? Evolution of the times is more how I see it. Capitilzing on the market is how porsche sees it.

WTF is up with exclusive companies (Porsche/Lamo) making 4 door garbage ?

I hope it sees the same demise as the Phaeton...

"Selling out" = Capitalizing on the market.

To me, makers like porsche shouldn't be related to those of Hyundai. Hyundai makes cars to make money. Porsche makes cars that are working pieces of art... there's a difference.

To me, its akin to good musicians that make sh!t songs, only because they know it'll sell and it'll get lots of airtime on the radio.

But, business is business, and you can't argue with that.

pfft...

starving artists have to eat too. If these companies can't change with the times to keep their pockets fat, and subscribe to purists like you, they'd be out of business. (Porsche specifically) Ferrari, Lambo, Konig etc..., they can continue to design for the artists sake as they have the clientele to support their pockets.

Nope.

Exotics might come from there. But represent a fraction of the general car population.

Even in italy. For every 1 ferrari there is 2 million Fiats.

In the end. Unless you target the NA market to sell your not going to be succesfull.

allow me to contort....

The general fiat driving public may not be able to afford this car but the high rollers in europe will love it. Just as the general civic driving population in NA won't be able to afford it the high rollers in NA will love it also. Obviously there is a demographic for this type of vehicle and that demographic spans the world the over with NA and Europe being the bulk of sales for a vehicle like this. I'm not going to argue where more vehicles will be sold, thats not what I said in the first place, my statement merely said that it will be a hit in the western and central european markets as it will in NA as it provides options. I stand by that statement.

People in NA that want room, performance, and luxury will buy SUVs, not wagons.

Re: Porsche Panamera

You know, this move really does "complete" their line-up now, i must say.

The purist in me says: 'anything but a 911, and its not a real porsche'

But the car guy in me says: 'hmm, now there's a car for every need in their line-up. SUV for capability, sedan for moving people, high-priced luxo sprts car, roadster, and small-ish entry-level sports car.

Re: Porsche Panamera

Pictures do not do this car justice.
I did not like the looks of it either, until I saw one in person.
I had a chance to have a really close look at it this summer. If I was made of money and wanted a 4 door car, there really isn’t much out there I’d take over Panamera.
Here are a couple of pictures I took this summer:

That looks like one of those cars/trucks that have undergone a 'stretch' into a limo. Like the Aston Mini stretch and should never have

Aesthetically, I think Porches are butt fugly. I am not aware of any other (good) manufacturer's car-lineup, of which I am able to simple look over their performance due to their fugly design, and not even bother considering it as a possibility in future purchases.
