My New Toy...

Sorry for the poor quality, it's from my cellphone. Picked this up on Thursday:

Didn't have time to really clean it up after the drive home...so excuse the mess

Thus far, I'm very impressed with the car's highway mileage. I was able to average 8.9L/100KM. I had the CC set to 120 for the entire trip and did not speed above 140 at times to pass people. I fueled up 4 times; each time about 50-60 litres. I still have a half tank now as it sits in my driveway.

The seats are very comfortable and offer lots of support. The design is very nice and well laid out. I would have liked to have had climate controls on the steering wheel tho as I found they were a pain to get to. Also, the joystick for the onboard computer/navi should have been closer to the drive and not the passenger.

I have yet to experience city driving to it's fullest yet so waiting to see how the gas will match up to the turbo lude. Probably the same...

I made the trip home in under 21hrs non-stop. Left Hamilton at 830am AST and arrived home around 530am.

depends on who's lude you're comparing it too I guess - but in general, it's a whole different class.

But for git-up and go, it takes more to get the G going that it did my lude. I could be in any rev range and stomp on the gas and the lude would haul ass. The G on the other hand, has a lot of torque in the low end, but really you need to down shift and bring the revs up to about 3-4K before some fun starts.

I am going to test it without the VDC soon to see how uhh drifting will be

Why did you come all the way to Hamilton to get it? Long way to travel for a used car...

I found it in Mississauga. I have friends in the Hammer that I stayed with.

There is little to no selection of G35's here so I travelled to Ontario to get this one. I doubt I would have found anything like this here at all.

Nice buy! always liked the styling of the G.

I always hear that these are really bad in snow even when paired with good snow tires..any truth to this? Hows the feel handling wise..is it like a tank compared to the lude?

They are fine in the snow with good tires. You just need to know how to drive a RWD when it gets slippery.

Re: My New Toy...

now you need a stillen intake, MD plenum spacer and MRV2 lower plenum upgrade. You'll be in the 320hp range with about $1000. Quick tune with the cipher programmer and a slight timing advance (+1 or +2) and your closer to 330hp with a sweet exhaust note to boot.

Re: My New Toy...

Love the car LD....once the spring comes i'm unloading the lude and looking for something similar myself.
To the poster that asked why drive so far....for anything nice, you get reamed out east. Very little selection, and when you do find one, it's usually thousands more than a similar car in Ont. I haven't seen a comparable model of my bimmer out here for anything less then 5-6k more than i paid.

I still have the lude for now... It's up for sale, but it's the off season now so I'll prolly have it until next spring when I have a better chance at getting what I want for it.

Thanks every one.

Frank - Imma PM you for more details

Spacer kit new $300, intake used $150, MVR2 $500. thats $950. Cipher tune free if you can make a friend at the dealer.

Base motor 280hp

Spacer kit = 12-14hp
MVR2 = 15-20hp
Intake = 11-14hp

38-48hp increase

+

280hp

=

318-328hp with out a tune.

Am I missing something cause I think its totally doable...

^ if his is a 05 and it 6mt it has a rev-up motor which equals 298hp but if it was the base motor the MREV would make minimal gains...and when you dyno it hp to the wheels is 240 on average...and a intake makes nowhere near 11-14hp as you calm it does...go look on the G35driver site...the VQ motor is pretty tweak to the max as it is

Very nice car Tom, I've driven one like this a few times and it fits like a glove. Lotsa power, a nice gearbox and it's so freakin comfortable. The ride home must have been a delight. It's not too often you get a 21 hour introduction to your new car, I'm sure you know it very well by now...

So are you off the bike now?

Thanks - It was definitely a huge difference from the lude. The clutch took some time to get used to over the racing clutch in the lude. It was a great ride home. The only thing I didn't learn on the way home is what the thing maxes out at

I still have the bike, but I don't ride it much lately. It's been parked a fair amount over the summer and back in storage now. It's paid for so I'm just gonna keep it and see what I want to do with it next year. Should prolly sell it and finance a house...haha

^ hahaha and you believe it cause its on the stillen site??? man that is too funny....and if you go on the g35driver site people actually dyno'ed the intake in comparsion and the OEM intake is the best one...and the rev-up motor intake box has the newer velocity stack compared to the non-rev-up motor
