Honda's New MTF

I don't know if anyone else has heard of this stuff here yet:

http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7875

Basically Honda/Acura has developed a new MTF which is supposed to work like GM Syncromesh...atleast for their 6spd transmissions. Essentially it makes shifting a lot smoother (esp in cold conditions), reduces wear, and helps with the 1-2 shift problems and popping out of 3rd problems some 6spd MT drivers have experienced.

From the Acura USA internal newsletter:

"Acura Precision Crafted MTF: It’s Even Better Than Before

In case you haven’t heard yet, Acura Precision Crafted MTF has been improved. It offers better overall shift quality in cold weather (especially in freezing temperatures), and it’s got better friction reduction for improved fuel economy and longer transmission service life. This new MTF (P/N 08798-9031A) is the factoryfill on all ’07 M/T-equipped Acura models, and it’s backward compatible with older models. It comes in a 1-quart bottle that wears a new label and a white cap."

Anyhow, I've been trying high and low to source some of this here in Canada...and every dealership I've talked to has basically thought I was crazy as they had never heard of anything like this. So far AcuraEast has been the only dealership willing to look further into this, and I'm supposed to call them back tomorrow with the details from the Acura USA internal newsletter I downloaded.

If anyone here has contacts or knows anything about this please post. My car has been known to pop out of 3rd now and then, and I've toyed with the idea of GM Syncromesh...but if this Honda stuff is near as good and doesn't void any warranties I definitely want some in my car.

Anyhow here are the part numbers from the US both for Honda and Acura, and also some pics of the Honda bottle (still trying to get some of the Acura bottle):

Honda: P/N 08798-9031
Acura: P/N 08798-9031A

I don't see a reason not to use it ... i am sure it will benefit 5spd as much as 6sp speed transmissions.

How close is an Acura or Honda dealer from the Niagara border? I'll be there next weekend, could pick up a few bottles.

So did anyone get any more information on this? I just changed my tranny fluid last year, but I will do it again this year if this new stuff will help with shifting in cold weather.
